The Hateful Eight: Tarantino’s Great 8th

Last month, I posted an article discussing the films I am most excited about for the remainder of 2015. Sadly, I forgot one important film, Quentin Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight.

If you don’t know already, Quentin Tarantino is my favorite filmmaker, and one of the greatest of our time. Therefore, this upcoming flick is a pretty big deal, especially since we haven’t seen a new Tarantino creation since Django Unchained, which released in 2012.

The Hateful Eight will mark the eighth film Tarantino has written and directed (counting both Kill Bill films as one).

If you are familiar with Tarantino’s work, you should already know what to expect from The Hateful Eight—violence and Samuel L. Jackson.

Jackson, along with Kurt Russell, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Walton Goggins, Demian Bechir, Tim Roth, Michael Madsen, and Bruce Dern all make up the “Hateful Eight,” who are a few unacquainted malicious westerners living a few years after the Civil War. Get the full synopsis here.

For my film nerds, the Kill Bill, Inglourious Basterd, and Django Unchained cinematographer, Robert Richardson, will join Tarantino once again, but this time he is shooting on 70mm film with Ultra Panavision 70. And if you are not a film nerd, just know that this is epic news.

The Hateful Eight almost did not happen due to a script leak back in 2014; however, thankfully, Tarantino just decided to revamp the script and change the ending.

I feel terrible for not including this film in my initial article. I guess that was just a sign that The Hateful Eight needed its own post.

Unfortunately, there is no official trailer out yet; however, there is a vague teaser trailer. Here it is:

I am so excited for this film. I get so emotional just thinking about it. I am sure that this film will score Tarantino a few more Oscar nominations and Richardson a cinematography nomination.

The Hateful Eight is another film releasing on Christmas Day.
