Best Motion Picture, Drama- Boyhood will win and definitely deserves the award.
Best Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy- Birdman will win, no question.
Best Actress in a Motion Picture, Drama- Rosamund Pike gave one of my favorite performances of 2014 as Amy Dunne in Gone Girl. However, I think Julianne Moore is going to take home the Globe for her performance in Still Alice based off of the critical acclaim from critics. I think Pike outperformed Moore but apparently I am the only one who thinks so.
Best Actor in Motion Picture, Drama- Eddie Redmayne blew me away as Steven Hawking in The Theory of Everything, he certainly deserves every single accolade heading his way. If he doesn’t win tonight, which is highly unlikely, the only other contender is Benedict Cumberbatch for his portrayal of Alan Turing in The Imitation Game.
Best Actress in a Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy- Emily Blunt? Amy Adams? I don’t know, this category is kind of tricky because none of these ladies performances really stuck with me. Amy may win because of her powerful name but I’m rooting for Emily.
Best Actor in a Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy- Is this really a question? Michael Keaton barely has any competition in this category since The Hollywood Foreign Press forgot about Chadwick Boseman, so saying Michael Keaton will win is more of a prophecy.
Best Animated Feature Film- The Lego Movie
Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture- Patricia Arquette should win and but Meryl Streep could win because she is Queen Meryl.
Best Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture- This category is filled with several incredible performances. There was a time when I thought each (well, most) of the actors deserved the award. I’m putting my money on J.K. Simmons for his performance in Whiplash.
Best Director- If you haven’t seen the masterpiece titled Boyhood yet, go watch it right now. After you watch the film, you will understand why Richard Linklater should win and most likely will win Best Director.
Best Screenplay- This is probably the toughest category for me to predict, each of the screenplays nominated are phenomenal! Birdman will most likely win but Boyhood or The Imitation could win. This is definitely the tightest race.
